Unstructured, inconsistent On-The-Job-Training (OJT) is so common that it comes with its own special terms. Perhaps the most common phrase, is, “Stanley here will show you the ropes.” This goes back to the days of sailors learning how to hoist the sails on merchant vessels. Unfortunately, operating dangerous equipment requires better training than unfurling the mainsail on a schooner.
