Arborist fails to train young workers.
OSHA levies a $136,000 fine
Isiah Bedocs was only 17 years old when he died on the job while working for Adam’s Tree Service. He was assigned to load branches into the chipper without first receiving adequate on-the-job training. The incident occurred in North Whitehall Township; PA. Isiah was pulled into the woodchipper as he was feeding entangled material into the machine. Investigators found that Adam’s Tree allowed three minor workers to operate the woodchipper without training. OSHA fined the company $136,000 for multiple violations, including using minor workers, lack of training and not providing protective equipment.
