Food distributor fails to provide forklift training
Fined £27,000
Broomhall Feeds, a UK company that stores and sells animal feed, was fined for health and safety failures after worker, John Brodie, age 65, suffered a life changing injury resulting in the loss of his leg from the knee down. Mr. Brodie was paired with a forklift driver who had joined the company only a few days prior to the accident. The forklift driver had not received any industrial truck training and ran over Mr. Brodie’s foot. Authorities found that with formal training and suitable traffic management plans, this accident would have been avoided.
